Workshop for artists who also parent or care for a young person : Integrating family practices into your practice
2.5-hour workshop offering artists with caring responsibilities time & space to explore creative solutions to sustaining their practice during caring years.
Are you a parent, expectant parent, guardian or carer? Have you come across challenges balancing being a carer and a creative?
Are you interested in being part of a supportive community of parenting artists in your area?
This workshop will provide opportunities to build your network, reflect on where you are in your practice and tune into goals and solutions that work for you.
Children are welcome under the supervision of their carers.
Bio : Lesley Conroy is an IFTA nominated actor & award-winning writer based in Dublin. She was a recipient of Cork Midsummer Festival’s Jane Anne Rothwell award for emerging female talent from Cork and an inaugural participant on Dlr Mill Theatre’s THE MAVENS, a year-long professional development programme for female playwrights.
Recent playwriting supports include: Arts Council Project funding for ‘Sea Change & DLR grant funding for ‘Di’. Her debut play ‘Cleaner’ was the 2020 winner of Scripts Ireland Competition, and was adapted for screen under Bow Street/Screen Ireland’s Actor as Creator scheme, winning multiple awards internationally. She has been commissioned by Axis Ballymun, Dlr Mill Theatre and The New Theatre. She is an Artist in residence in dlr Mill Theatre with the support of an Arts Council Bursary. She is a steering group member of MAM (Mother Artists Makers) and an advocate for greater inclusivity for parents and carers in the arts.
