State of Caring 2026 Survey for Family Carers
State of Caring 2026 survey for family carers
This biennial national survey aims to capture the lived experiences of family carers across Ireland including parents who are providing unpaid care to a child or young person with a disability, long-term illness, mental health difficulties or additional support needs, as well as parents balancing caring responsibilities alongside work and family life.
Parent Hubs play a key role in supporting parents through accessible information, trusted guidance and community connection. Many parents in this situation may not identify themselves as “carers”, despite providing significant levels of care, and for this reason we believe the survey will be highly relevant to families accessing Parent Hub supports.
Findings from previous State of Caring surveys have been widely used to:
- Highlight carers’ experiences in national media
- Inform evidence-based submissions to Government
- Influence policy and service development affecting families and carers
The State of Caring 2026 survey is now open and will remain available for six weeks, closing on 4 March 2026. The survey takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and is primarily available online.
To support participation, we have also made provisions for:
- Paper copies of the survey
- Telephone support for carers who may need assistance completing it
Carers who would like a paper copy or support can contact me directly:
