Foroige

Foróige is a youth organisation with a difference. Here, young people don’t just belong – they lead. They set the agenda, take action, and shape their own experiences in a welcoming and safe space. Foróige is where friendships are formed, confidence takes root and new skills blossom. With the freedom to explore, the support of trained adults who walk alongside them, and plenty of fun along the way, young people in Foróige don’t just prepare for the future – they make the most of today.

We have Foróige Clubs all over Waterford which are youth clubs run by young people themselves, facilitated by adult volunteers. Every week, all across Ireland, young people come together in their local communities to do something simple, but powerful; connect with one another. They run their own club nights with the support of adult volunteers. There might be games, chats, laughter, tea, music – you name it. It’s always different, because no two Foróige Clubs are the same. And that’s the point.

There are four kinds of Foróige Club:
Clubs for 12–17 year olds
Juniors Clubs for 10–12 year olds
Specialist Clubs
Youth Cafés
Across all of them, the focus is the same: building confidence; learning to work as a team; and discovering just how much you’re capable of.

These Clubs are led by young people, for young people. You decide what happens. Want to organise a fundraiser? Go for it. Plan a trip? Make it happen. Try something new? Bring it to the group. Your voice matters here – and you’ll be heard.

We run a wide variety of pioneering programmes focused on skills development, covering everything from digital skills to entrepreneurship. Every young person deserves the chance to learn, grow, and explore their interests in a way that excites and challenges them. That’s what Foróige’s Programmes are all about – hands-on, interactive experiences that help young people develop real skills for life.

From leadership and digital skills to climate justice and personal development, our programmes are shaped by what young people want to learn and how they want to learn it. They’re not like school – no tests, no note-taking, just engaging, practical activities that build confidence, independence, and knowledge.

Led by trained staff and volunteers, and supported by external experts where needed, our programmes run in communities across Ireland. Thousands of young people take part each year, gaining skills, making connections, and discovering what they’re capable of.
